LED displays are a staple in modern broadcasting, offering a crisper and more natural look than green screens, with the added ability to provide backlighting and shadows. Recognizing these advantages, Rick Larkin of BCB Live partnered with Copano Media Group (CMG) to install a large-format LED display in his new broadcasting studio in Mansfield, Texas. The display needed to accommodate a 50-person audience and be wide enough for group discussions. CMG sourced the hardware and processors from QSTech, ensuring the display met all specifications.
The project had two main challenges: mounting in a historic brick building and integrating two QSTech PCON600 controllers. CMG resolved the mounting issue with a custom frame and merged the controllers using NVIDIA Mosaic technology. The installation was completed in just a few days, including complimentary training for BCB Live staff. The final result was a 25’ x 8’ video wall with a 6144 x 1920 resolution, 1.2-pixel pitch, and features like Apple Screenshare compatibility and dual/split-screen capabilities.
